SCA-UA 280.001 Topics: Islamophobia, Anti-Blackness, and Resistance
Summer Session II:Monday, July 2nd through Sunday, August 12th
Days/Times: Tues/Wed/Thurs 12:30-2:30
Course Description: This course will study the ways Islamophobia and anti-Blackness have worked together in US politics and culture since 9/11. How are they connected, and what purposes are they serving? What is their material effect on people, spaces, institutions, and possible futures? How do they coexist with assertions about rights, justice, and freedom – particularly gender/queerness and military projects to “spread democracy?” And how are resistance movements responding?
